The Big Three

Who are we?

Who are you?

What do you have to offer?

Those are the questions that have come up often in recent meetings of the Windham Youth Advocacy Collective, as we figure out how to become more public in our community as our mission kicks off.

As a part of the Windham Youth Advocacy Collective, we are trying to network with programs all over the community in order to make resources and opportunities that are available to youth as public and accessible as possible. It is an extremely ambitious effort that is long overdue. When I look around Willimantic I see artistry, and I see heart, but there is an underlayer of struggle particularly in the youth.

After collecting 100 surveys from youth in the community, there was a common pattern that myself and a fellow member of the WYAC saw; that youth are very disconnected from adults who could be helpful, which has resulted in confusion and doubt regarding the direction they wish to take in their future endeavors, with uncertainty surrounding the opportunities that lie before them.

As community members, supporters, and perhaps even young adults struggling with the same issues and obstacles as our younger peers, it is our job to make those opportunities known to the youth and provide them with the resources, support, and opportunities necessary for them to walk a life path full of stability and fulfillment.

Who are we?

We are the Windham Youth Advocacy Collective, and we are here to help build that path.

Who are you?

Are you a parent? A family member? A business owner? A service provider? Someone else?

What do you have to offer?

What can you do to help build that path for the youth in your community? Feel free to get in touch with us to let us know, because we need as many voices as possible.
