Carlisle Dockery has joined GROW Windham as the FoodCorps Service Member for the 2016-2017 School year. Carlisle is a recent graduate of Davidson College in North Carolina. She will be working in Natchaug and North Windham Elementary schools during the school day as well as with after school programs in these schools and Windham High School. She will be working with teachers to provide resources for future growth of garden and nutrition programs in the schools and to lead hands on garden and cooking activities for students during the day.
GROW Windham is a collaborator in the “CT Food Justice Project”, that brings AmeriCorps VISTA Service Members to communities across the state to build the capacity of organizations focused on community food security and food justice. Our VISTA, Erin McMahon, grew up in a neighboring town and recently received a degree from UConn. As a student she wanted to get involved with her local community and as a result interned here at GROW Windham. Not a stranger to our programs, Erin will be building capacity for our Windham Youth Core program, as well as our community gardens, she will also be supporting two community programs: The Willimantic Farmers’ Market and The Windham Community Food Network.
