Maranatha Community Garden

The Maranatha Community Garden was created in the spring of 2011 by the children and parents of the Maranatha SDA Regional School, and members of the community and SDA Church.

The garden was created for several reasons: as an educational benefit to the children of Maranatha SDA Regional School, as a low cost organic food source for the local community, and as a seasonal means of donating to local families, shelters &/or soup kitchens.

With gracious donations and help from the SDA church members and community volunteers, it was clear that the Maranatha Community Garden became a significant part of the community. The garden is used by gardeners and buddy gardeners of every level of experience.

The garden specializes in organically grown food which is the primary goal of the garden and is also accompanied by a variety of herbs and companion flowers. There is hope to create its own water source and funding to do so, also to work on the fact that the garden is adjacent to  several very old fruit trees that are in extreme need of gentle care, pruning & restoration. Lastly, the garden also needs sturdy gates for all entry ways.

The Maranatha Community hosts weekly and monthly programming throughout the growing season.  For more information please feel free to contact Roberta George, Garden Coordinator: or 860-617-1362.
